Fashion show or freak show – More like porn show!

Fashion-Week

Have you sat through a fashion show recently? No I haven’t either, but after all of the recent coverage of Kanye Wests show for his Adidas line I feel like I have and all I can say what a load of b******t! I mean who the hell really cares? Well I can tell you – no one, well not no one, but only 23% of the population according to recent research from My Voucher Codes.

They shared this crazy infographic on Shocking Times (should of guessed from the title), and to be fair, they are right on their money when they say a fashion show is more like a freak show. But judging by some of the stuff seen on catwalks I’d go one further and say it’s more like a porn show! Boobs and willies hanging out I mean who really wants to see that?! No offence to the female models, but they are normally so emaciated that their boobs look more like fried eggs, I don’t want to see that, nor do I want to see a willy hanging out of a peep hole swinging down a catwalk.

Fashion Week (1)

I’d say that 99% of the clothes (if you can call them that) featured are never anything a normal, mere mortal would be seen in, not that a mere mortal could afford the price tag. But most of these fashions are just not practical nor functional and a lot of the time down right crazy!

My Voucher Codes asked those taking part in their survey: “Does fashion week make any difference to your clothing choices?” 91% of men stated no, it did not, compared to 83% of women. Only 7% of men and 15% of women felt that fashion week did make a different in their clothing choices. So only small numbers of people are actually affected by what they see on the catwalk. Yes I know high street retailers take ‘inspiration’ from these designs but most of the time, the concepts themselves are unwearable.

The voucher code company also asked: “Do you think fashion week is more like a freak show than a fashion show?” Interesting results found:
• 50% feel Fashion week is more like a Freak Show
• 40% feel Fashion week is more like a Fashion Show
• 10% of people feel Fashion week represents:
o Art Show
o Poor reflection of human nature
o Consumerist indoctrination
o Not a true reflection of wearable clothes
o Unflattering and unattainable to women

Speaking about the study, founder of MyVoucherCodes Mark Pearson said, “Twice a year, millions of pounds are spent hosting Fashion Week, we see designer brands gather from around the world, showcasing their designs to a gaggle of socialites and press. However the majority of the general public, don’t actually seem to care that much on what happens. And it seems, it has very little effect on what they purchase on the high street. “

He added, “Judging from some of the crazy creations we have seen in the past, it’s not surprising that some people consider these fashion shows to be more like freak shows. Our infographic shows some crazy designs that we really hope won’t be making it to the high street, let alone into people’s wardrobes. So we have to ask the question; do we really need this circus?”
I think they are right on the money, fashion shows are more like freak shows, most of the time the designs are so farfetched it’s not something anyone would be seen dead in!
